Institute for Animal Health

The Institute for Animal Health

The Institute for Animal Health of LUFA Nord-West, situated in Oldenburg, has a wide range of services on offer covering the whole topic of animal health to farmers, vets, breeding associations and trade firms.

The following diagnostic foci are offered by our various laboratories:

  • Bacteriology incl. milk bacteriology
  • Molecular biology (PCR)
  • Serology
  • Parasitology

Our wide spectrum comprises analysis methods, which have been proven for years, such as cultures and serology, and the most modern microbiological diagnostics, which are used, for instance, for bluetongue diagnosis.

Basically, we analyse samples from any animal, with our focus being on farm animals (cattle, pigs, sheep, goats) and horses.

When choosing the right diagnostic method and for evaluation of the results, competent points of contact are available for consultation. Our pool of highly motivated employees consists of vets, specialist vets and qualified laboratory personnel with many years of experience. Our friendly service and office employees create quick and precise reports.

Free sample collection service from many collection points in the region and collaboration with the LWK Lower Saxony animal health service round off our customer oriented service.

As an independent laboratory, we take part in analyses for fighting epizootic diseases, part of this is, among others, the diagnostic of BHV-1, BVD, leucosis, brucellosis, Salmonella and paratuberculosis.

The Institute for Animal Health of LUFA Nord-West is an accredited diagnostic laboratory and warrants consistently reliable results through its quality assurance system.
